We caught up with pop starlet Camryn to find out all about her new music, awesome fans and upcoming tour with One Direction.
DOLLY: It's just been announced that you're joining One Direction on their US tour. How did it feel when you first found out?
Camryn: It all started when I really wanted a ticket to see their show in the States — I am a huge One Direction fan. I said to my manager, "OMG, can you please get me a ticket?" I was lucky enough to score one and after the show I was just like, "Oh my god they are amazing".
My manager called me a few days later and said; "Hey can you call me? It's urgent". I was thinking it was going to be bad news. When I called him back he said; "How do you feel about going on tour with One Direction?" I almost died.
DOLLY: Have you met the boys yet?
Camryn: I haven't met them yet but I'm really excited to.
DOLLY: Who's your favourite?
Camryn: I have two favourites — Harry and Zayn.
DOLLY: Do you get to travel with 1D on their tour bus?
Camryn: I'm not sure yet. I'm just kind of going with the flow. We start rehearsals in a few days!
DOLLY: What part of the tour are you looking forward to most?
Camryn: The crowd! It's going to be at least 12,000 people per show — the biggest crowd that I've ever performed for. So I'm really nervous but also so excited. I think performing and getting that great experience and seeing how One Direction fans react is going to be amazing.
DOLLY: Which songs will you be performing?
Camryn: I'll be singing some new songs and, of course, my new single 'Set the Night on Fire'.
DOLLY: How did your friends react when you told them the news?
Camryn: So many of my friends are Directioners. They came up to me and said; "Oh my gosh, you're going on tour with One Direction?!" And I was just like, "Yeah, you know, whatever," trying not to freak out in front of them! They're really excited for me.
DOLLY: How did you start singing?
Camryn: I have sung my whole life, ever since I was very little, but I first started getting serious after I entered a talent show when I was seven. That's when I decided that singing was what I really wanted to do.
DOLLY: How do you feel when you see your fans singing and dancing along with you?
Camryn: It feels amazing. You get this big happy sensation that just makes you feel good. It's amazing to know that people out there actually care about you and your music.
DOLLY: Have you had any crazy fan encounters?
Camryn: Nothing too crazy yet! I've been given some cool presents like bracelets, teddy bears and signs. All my fans are so amazing and I just can’t thank them enough.
DOLLY: What upcoming projects are you working on?
Camryn: We're working on some other tours and my new album. I just finished touring after four months so I'm thinking about taking a holiday over summer.
DOLLY: Where would you go on holidays?
Camryn: Upstate New York — I'm so excited!
