Can't seem to pull yourself away from
Gossip Girl and toward the gym? No need to worry; Angel from
Gladiators has devised a quick, simple and effective one-week fitness plan to help you on your way to Tone Town.
Monday
- 30-minute walk home from school or around the block with a friend.
- Three sets of 15 dips on a park bench
- Three sets of seven push ups
- 10 sets of 10 squats with your friend pushing down on your shoulders as you push up for resistance.
Tuesday
At lunchtime go for a 25 minute jog/run with a jogging buddy around the school oval or even just run laps of the school yard. You should be running at a pace where you can still talk about what you're going to do on the weekend and who's hot and who's not. Leave time for a 10-minute walk cool down.
Find a step at home and while you talk to your bestie on the phone, perform calf raises or sit in a squat position as if you're sitting in an invisible chair and try to hold the position for two minutes at a time.
Wednesday
Use the school playground ...
Start with five laps of the monkey bars dropping down to do five push ups at either end. Hang from the monkey bars and lift your knees to your chest five times, repeat for five sets. Make sure a friend spots you on the monkey bars.
Thursday
- Drink plenty of water. Stretch while doing homework, watching TV or speaking on the phone.
- You could always do an extra cardio session and vacuum the house for mum ... be a little angel!
Friday
Find a hill or some stairs near home or at school. With a friend, chase each other up the stairs or the hill five times with schoolbooks in your backpacks for resistance. At the top, do five push ups followed by five star jumps. At the bottom, do 20 sit ups holding a schoolbook on your chest for resistance.
Saturday
Take a Taekwondo class, or if Taekwondo isn't your passion treat yourself to a Bollywood dance class, aqua aerobics, yoga class or a pump class. Take a friend and have fun!
Sunday
A 30-minute recovery walk, even if it's only window shopping. Shopping is sometimes not only great therapy but great recovery also!
