Green Tip #12

Wednesday, July 16, 2008
Each week, DOLLY's resident greenie, Gerdy, will share her knowledge of all things eco-friendly.

Gerdy's green tips #12

Green tip for this week:

Cut back on meat

It's hard to believe that what is on our dinner plates can affect the environment, but it's true. Eating less meat can have a positive effect on reducing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions. Each 150 gram serve of grain fed beef comes at a cost of 200 litres of water and a massive 5 kilos of greenhouse gas pollution.

It's time to swap that steak for some salad and introduce more vegetables into your diet. You don't need to cut out meat all together if you don't want to, but every little bit helps.

Green benefits:

  • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions
  • Cuts back on global warming
  • Saves animals

our eath won't last much longer if we don't make a stand now, government doesn't caring enough about futurer generations to make a difference so we need to stand up for whats right, think about our children to come and how all beautiful land sites will have dissapeared (e.g waterfalls, rain forest.) think about all those places tat you have always wanter to go (over seas to say the amazon!) they wont be there is we don't do something! please help make our world a better place! ACT NOW!
i am a very big supporter of not eating or consuming any meat products as i dont fell that an animal has to suffer so that we can enjoy ourselves for one meal. i just dont see the point in harming animals to get meat. To me killing an animal would just be like killing a human, thats how strongly i feel about it and im just so happy that dolly is now showing its support. thankyou
