Dear DOLLY, I've just started growing dark, thick hair on my arms and legs. What methods can I use to get rid of unwanted hair?
A: Luckily for you (and 50 percent of the population out there!), there are tonNes of ways of getting silky smooth and hair free.
If you don't mind a little bit of pain and like the idea of being hair-free longer, you can try waxing. If you're a first timer though, go to a salon and quiz them for tricks while they show you how it’s best done. And then once you feel confident, you can try to do it from home.
There are also hair removal creams, which are easy to use and don't hurt. The only downside is the effects don’t last as long as waxing. Waxaway, Nads and Veet all offer good options in the way of waxing and depilatory creams for beginners.
If you want a quick, easy fix though, then shaving is your best option. You can choose from disposable razors (like Bic Twin Lady, $2.99) or more permanent fixtures in your shower (like Schick Silk Effects, $6.49) that you will need to refill every now and again. The other necessary evil with all this hair removal is moisturizer. It’s important to rehydrate your skin after you strip it of its fur coat.
Oh and lastly, hair removal is a personal thing and it depends on your levels of confidence and comfort as to what method best suits you. The important thing to remember is that once you get rid of hair in an area, it tends to require quite a bit of maintenance for the rest of your life. So if your arms don’t need to be waxed, then try and resist.
Oh and leave your brows to the professionals, or just leave them alone entirely – full brows are beautiful!
