Caring for fair skin in the sun

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Dear DOLLY, I get burnt really easily as I have fair skin, but if I use sunscreen on my face it tends to be too oily for my skin and makes me break out. Can you suggest a face sunscreen that's not harsh on my skin and has the best sun protection?

A: Hmm, we see your problem! And hats off to your for even asking this question because a lot of people would just shrug their shoulders and let the sun do its thing.

Firstly, you need to be wearing at least 30 plus every day so in your case it means wearing only sunscreens with "oil-free", "noncomedogenic" or "for acne-prone or oily skin" on the labels, which mean that these sunscreens are light on the oil and banned from clogging our blessed pores.

Sunsense, available at Pharmacies are right on in this vein because they do heaps of research to make sure they're winning the fight against skin cancers. Try: Sunsense Clear Gel SPF 30+, $10.95 or Sunsense Daily Face SPF 30+, from $13.99.
