Kyle from Channel V answers your questions

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Boys can be a confusing bunch, so we decided to talk to an actual member of the species and ask him: ‘What’s with you guys’?

Heaps of you submitted your questions, and Kyle answered six of the best. Get you pad and pen out and prepare to learn!

Do guys REALLY care what girls wear? If we have a bad hair day do you guys really notice? Tara, Perth
I cannot deny that yes, I do notice what a girl is wearing. But we don’t notice a lot of the things you guys probably worry out about like a hair out of place or something. You might be worried that your hair is messy and we’ll be like “Wow, she’s got windswept hair!”

Is it ok for a girl to ask a guy on a date? Anna, NSW
Definitely yes. I often prefer that because I love girls that are confident and step out of gender specific roles. I don’t like girls that always assume that guys always think that guys should always be the ones to initiate something. I think it’s really cool that girls can do that too. And I am a pretty shy too. I think if a chick puts herself out like that it could help the situation.

When I start to like a guy, I go really shy around them and don't act like I usually do. What can I do to make my real personality come out around them? Amanda
Well I think, being comfortable is the easiest way for your personality to come out. If you relax it will come more naturally. My suggestion would be to muck around and be playful, don’t be afraid to have a joke. You always know a girl likes you or you know something is going on if you have a little bit of harmless teasing going on. That way you’re not really focusing on the pressure of acting cool around them and flirting becomes a little bit more natural that way.

Is there anything that girls wear that you hate? Demalza, Melbourne
Nothing off the top of my head, but I do think it is important to have a sense of personal style. You have to know what you’re about and what you like. I don’t think that there is anything I hate. I think its all about confidence. Be confident but friendly and approachable as well. So you have got to remember to smile. So if someone’s moody, I am not really into that. Not necessarily what your wearing but more your mood.

I’m really good friends with this guy, and lately he has been paying me lots of compliments and telling me personal stuff about his family. Do you think he likes me or are we just really good friends? Stephanie
If you’re are spending a lot of time with each other and hanging out one on one then maybe he does. But otherwise if it’s just a group scenario thing, it could be more of a mate situation. I think a good way to find out is to maybe ask him to hang out one on one, go to dinner or the movies or something. And you will probably be able to tell from the vibe you get from being one on one.

I was wondering as a guy, what would you like to do for a first date? Something fun, inventive, different, or more traditional like dinner and a movie? Could you give me an example? Thanks!
I’m the creative guy right now. I love being creative with stuff. I like different ideas and trying something new. Not always the best situation for a date especially for a first date or something. You might get really nervous so it might be a good idea to do something strange like rock climbing. But also you can’t beat a good meal with conversation. Going out to dinner is the best way to get to know someone. Just hang out and talk. If it feels awkward, just let it be awkward. Don’t try and over talk or oversell it. Just be relaxed. But I think a great idea for a date is to hire a Dingy, go out on a beautiful day on the water and hunt for abandoned beaches. I am an outdoors kind of guy. And I love the water.

Thanks for the wise words Kyle! Of course we couldn’t resist asking Kyle a couple of questions about Kyle!

What is it like to work at Channel V?
It’s awesome. I only just started the last couple of weeks. It’s pretty fresh for me, but I love music and I am really excited to meet awesome people and do some travel as well. I get to shoot some stuff oversees for ‘Before Thirty’, which is for a new show that we are doing. So I am off to Spain for that next month, which I am so stoked about.

What else have you got going on at the moment?
Working on second series of ‘Before Thirty’, which is really exciting, because heaps of travel stuff and adventure, which I am really into. Also Be Live Jet, a live performance that we will be pushing.
