Please help me!

Q. There's this guy I really like and I think he likes me too. Because he's really nice to me and he beats me up a lot (playfully) and teases me, but he tells everyone he doesn't like me. He did like me a while ago, but he had a girlfriend at the time so we didn't want to act on anything, and he acted the same way around me back then as he does now. But I'm scared to ask him out because I want to remain friends and if he says no, it might be awkward, so I want to make the first move. Please help me!

Tanele, via e-mail.

Callum says:
Sounds to me like he still likes you but doesn't want to admit it to anyone for the same reason that you're afraid to ask him out ... or he just may not feel the same way. If he used to like you, and nothing has changed, other than the fact he now doesn't have a girlfriend, then I'd say it's pretty likely he still likes you and is possibly just afraid of taking it further. Ask him out! If he says yes then it's all good. If he happens to say no then it sucks, but if you two are tight enough friends you'll get through it and probably remain friends afterwards.
