Ellen Page is different to your typical young, female Hollywood actress. You don't see her on the Hollywood scene very often, she always dresses pretty simple, and she barely opens her mouth to the media. Maybe that's why we're so intrigued? And we're not the only ones; Ellen was one of Time magazine's top 100 most influential people of 2008. We decided an investigation was in order, DOLLY style, so we put intern Alexandra on the case. Let's see what she came up with (no pressure, Alex!).
The 22-year-old Canadian began acting at the age of 10, but only recently had her big break in the quirky comedy Juno. ("Sorry, I can't hear you, I'm on my hamburger phone!")
Co-starring with cutie Michael Cera, their memorable pash was nominated for best kiss at the MTV Movie awards in 2008. Ellen's role as Juno MacGuff also led to nominations for Golden Globe and Academy Awards. As the daughter of a teacher and graphic designer, Ellen's success may have been quite unexpected to some, but her talent and quirky sense of humour have led to roles in Hard Candy, Smart People, X-Men: The Last Stand and of course, Juno.
Read DOLLY's interview with Ellen
From playing Shadowcat (a girl who can walk through walls) in X-Men: The Last Stand, to a pregnant tomboy in Juno she is certainly proving that she can do it all. She even shaved her head for her role in Mouth to Mouth in 2005.
How did peeps treat Ellen when she had shaved hair?
Ellen is very selective in what roles she accepts, saying "I don't really want to do the Hollywood thing. I think you ought to try to say something with your movies." It sounds like she's got a strong acting career ahead of her. For Ellen, there'll be no loitering in the "has-been" pile by the time she's 25 due to overexposure.

So what's next for Ms Page? Ellen will star in the psychological thriller, Peacock directed by Michael Lander, as well as the comedy Whip it!, directed by Drew Barrymore. Both films are due to be released in 2009.
We can't wait!
