Kate was born Catherine Ann Bosworth. Her younger years were spent in LA before she moved with her parents to San Francisco, then interstate to Connecticut and Massachusetts. When she was 14, Kate, a champion equestrian, heard about a casting call for a movie about horses called The Horse Whisperer, starring Robert Redford and another young, unknown actress called Scarlett Johansson.
Kate auditioned for the role of Scarlett's best friend with hopes of merely gaining experience of the film-auditioning process. Even though her only prior acting experience consisted of singing at county fairs in California and acting in a community theatre production of Annie, Kate landed the role.
Fearful that early stardom would rob her of a childhood, Kate took 18 months off after the film to grow up and live a normal life. But it wasn't long before she was back on screen. In 2000 she landed a small part in Remember the Titans before scoring her first lead role in the surfer chick flick Blue Crush in 2002.
Kate's personal life has been just as desirable as her career. In 2002 she met and started dating Hollywood hottie Orlando Bloom. The couple were together, on and off, for four years. Now, Kate is dating British model James Rousseau. Talk about lucky in love!
