Dear DOLLY DR, After having sex, I go to the toilet and pee but my vagina hurts so bad, I sit on the toilet screaming and crying for at least half an hour. It hurts for a day after, too, but before sex and during sex it doesn't hurt. What's wrong with me?

It's important to get this diagnosed properly and treated because it shouldn't happen! Sometimes very vigorous sex can irritate the tissues in the genital area and cause mild discomfort just afterwards. However, it should not be as severe as you describe and would not last a day or two. It's also important to work out whether the pain is coming from your vagina or from your bladder or urethra (the tube that transports urine from your bladder to the outside).
If you have an inflammation or infection in your vagina, it's likely that sexual intercourse is aggravating it, causing your pain. However, it's also possible that you are getting an inflammation or irritation in the bladder after sex. If this were the case you would feel pain during urination. Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection that can cause painful urination and this can be diagnosed with a simple urine test and cured with one dose of antibiotics. And although an infection is a possible cause, it might not be, so go and see your doctor confidentially to get it sorted.
