Discharge worries
I was wondering, is it normal to discharge yellowy-brown stuff?
Caroline
The normal fluid that comes out of the vagina is clear or white, but it can be slightly yellow. Its colour and consistency will also vary depending on where your body is at in the menstrual cycle it will be thicker and creamier in colour just before a period. Brown discharge usually suggests a bit of blood and it's possible that you are noticing the end of a period, or, if you're on the Pill, you might be getting a bit of breakthrough bleeding. Important questions are whether the discharge is itchy, painful or smelly, all of which could suggest an infection. Vaginal infections may or may not be sexually transmitted, so you can ask your doctor for more advice even if you're not sexually active. If you have had unprotected sex and have noticed a brown discharge, then you should get a check-up.
