Guy questions: Genitals

Wednesday, July 11, 2007

Dear DOLLY, I have a problem ... I'm a guy with fair skin but my genitalia is a different colour ... it's more the shade of dark skin. Why is this? Is it normal? How do I get my original skin colour back? Anonymous

What you've noticed is probably completely normal. The skin around the genital area in men and women is usually darker than other parts of the body and because a lot of this area is covered in pubic hair it can be difficult to tell the exact skin colour.

It's only a possible concern if you've noticed other patches of dark skin on your body, such as under your arms. If you're on any medication just check with your doctor that there are no side effects too.

The most likely explanation is that the colour of your genital skin is your "original skin colour" and there's no need to do anything!
