Lumpy nipple
I have a hard lump under my nipple, and when I push on it, cloudy discharge comes out. What is wrong with me and is it serious?
Stacey
The symptoms you describe should definitely be checked out properly because there probably is something "wrong". However, "serious" usually means likely to get much worse or life-threatening, and this is extremely unlikely, given your age. What you've noticed sounds like a small growth in the ducts of your breast, called a "duct papilloma". A duct is a tiny tube that carries fluid from the place where it is made, to the surface. If one or more of the ducts in the breast develop a growth in them, you can feel a small lump under the nipple, which may squirt some clear, cloudy or sometimes blood-stained fluid when you press on it. But, it is very important to make sure this diagnosis is the correct one. For example, if you've ever had your nipple pierced, your symptoms could be due to an infection, and if the discharge is coming from the nipple itself, it might a hormone problem. All this might sound pretty freaky, but after a check up you are likely to feel a whole lot better.
