Dear DOLLY DR,I have stretch marks on my breasts how do I get rid of them because I don’t feel comfortable wearing bikinis with them, what do I do?
Stretch marks are a really common occurrence when girls' bodies hit puberty.
As their name suggests, they happen when the skin stretches as your body changes into its new womanly shape – affecting mainly breasts, hips, buttocks and sometimes thighs. They are not related to gaining too much weight (although susceptible people will also get them if they gain a lot of weight).
Stretch marks seem to be linked to heredity – some skin types and some people are more susceptible than others. They are sometimes also more obvious in very fair skinned people. They can be pink, red or even purple but they do fade over time.
Nothing can make them go away, but it is important to avoid sunburn (this will make them worse) and to keep your skin healthy by eating a healthy diet and drinking lots of water. Lots of girls your age will also be noticing stretchmarks so if you think you can stand it, just accept the fact that they’re here to stay for a while.
