We ask Pop Beauty founder and international makeup artist Sara Strand your beauty questions.
What are the beauty party trends for 09/10?
"Individuality, playfullness and originality. Don’t just go for the same old smoky eye, glue real gold leafs or flower petals onto your eyelids and cheekbones (use a lash glue). Do a smoky neon eye, play with your lips (neon red top lip, neon pink lower lip). Take inspiration from your favourite eras and make them your own (geisha look, pale skin and red lips, 80's rainbow eye, etc.)"
What’s your ultimate party look and how do you get it?
"Make an effort to perfect your skin first. This is the only way to then create the ultimate party look. Any artist needs a good canvas to be able to make the colours blend well and pop properly. Use a good foundation and don’t overdo it with the powder - a little glow is good for you! Fake lashes can be fun for a party. Even if you are keeping the rest of the makeup minimal, a pair of lashes makes all the difference! Also remember that party time is the right time to play with your makeup and to be brave so smudge neons onto your lids or use a much brighter lipstick then you usually do - it could make your night!"
Which celeb’s make-up do you always look forward to seeing?
"Gwen Stefani, Agyness Deyn, Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Florence Welsh and Grace Jones."
What make-up looks are perfect for a festival?
"I was a festival bunny when I lived in the UK and then it was all about giving it your all or nothing so I would sprinkle myself with tonnes of glitter or just go minimal and wear lip gloss - depends on the festival and mood."
Do you have any party preparation tips?
“Have your girlfriends over and listen to some good music - play with each other’s makeup and hair and help each other out. That’s always my favourite part! My sisters and I always get ready together when we can and have so much fun!"

What does one do with a pre-party breakout?
"Don’t touch! Grin and bare it, use a good blemish cream and a concealer and pretend it’s not there. If you forget about it, other people are more likely to also. My trick is to start covering the blemish with a good concealer, then dabbing some foundation on top and finish off with a little more concealer. Bring the stick with you in your purse so you can touch up during the night."
What is always pride of place in your clutch?
"Lipgloss (needless to say...), blusher, compact foundation, chewing gum, keys, credit card and a mini bottle of my favourite perfume."
What is your ultimate nail colour?
"My ultimate - as in the one I always go back to, would be a dark wine red. It’s classy and classic. However I also love to play with crazy neon greens and yellows and pinks - anything attention stealing!"
